Heavy & Low

tequilabuya21 My most listened to album of 2020, partly because Kurt is one of my best friends (full disclosure!) but because so much of it speaks to me. I set Loose Change as my favourite track but the way they’re transitioned I consider Annie and Loose Change to be two parts to one piece separated by only a notional semicolon ;

This album will never not be in my rotation! ❤️

Favorite track: Loose Change.

I can't relate You're too young Wish you would stay You're on the run To work it out We can't work it out Not this lonely time You'll pay the price And find that road You'll lose learn and love You're not fully grown Little brother You're never gonna learn Not this lonely time You won't sing along About your yesterdays Oh it's such a way You won't come along Oh it's such a way Oh my heart it breaks for you Now you're gone, gone away And I could say You're so sad to go But the words don't come out right These feelings you'll never show You're never gonna learn Not this lonely time

I am a ship out to sea I've no home Where the wind takes me That's where I go If I wrote a thousand words Sent back to shore Would you find them here my love And send a call Can you Hear the Song I sing For you alone Can I break your heart again I won't Can't be alone, I know Leave you home, I won't Care to sing, or come along Here I sail I run away Straight for the sun And I hear your every cry Back to you I run
4.
Annie 04:37
I can see you running Can you hear me screaming I can see you bleeding Take one look at you But Annie won't you come along He can't touch you anyway You can always count on me I swear it's gonna be okay I know you're burning To tell me every little thing Come a bit closer Your whispers fill my head I know you're tired Of feeling tired all the time But love can save you You're the only one on my mind And Annie you can be the one To hold me all my days I can always come to you You swear to God I'll be okay But Annie won't you come along He can't touch you anyway You can always count on me I swear it's gonna be okay You can hide yourself inside me You can hide yourself in me

Loose Change 02:44
Loose change love songs That's where we came from Pouring hearts, full eyes That's where we're going I've never been harder to love And you stay here And a good woman is something to have Honey stay near Hold tight let go That's where we came from You smile lights on You're free to walk on I've never been harder to touch And you stay here Ya these words don't mean much Honey stay near I sing a song I sing it loud I sing to you Roll the dice for paradise Honey it's you Loose change love songs That's where we came from Pouring hearts, full eyes That's where we're going I've never been harder to love And you stay here And ya these words don't mean much Honey stay near I've never been harder to touch And you stay here And a good woman is something to have Honey stay near

I've got different keys in my hands Depending where I'm living I've got different hopes in my heart Depending how I'm doing I've got different songs in my head Depending where I'm going I've got different love in my heart Depending how I'm doing Through the tall grass I go In the morning Waiting for ya I go In the morning When the leaves fall you know I'll be walking By the river I go Find me darling There I found her in the reeds Fast asleep as the night before There and fair so beautiful I held her down to the shore Praying darling please forgive me For I know what I've done There I washed these hands of mine And waited for my legs to run Through the tall grass I go In the morning Waiting for ya I go In the morning When the leaves fall you know I'll be walking By the river I go Find me darling Now I see her everywhere Both in the day and in the dark And the love I'll held so dear And resting sweetly in my arms Praying darling please forgive me For I know what I've done There I washed these hands of mine And waited for my legs to run Through the tall grass I go In the morning Waiting for ya I go In the morning When the leaves fall you know I'll be walking By the river I go Find me darling

Lonely Heart 02:56
I am just a lonely Sailing to another start Open up your port to me So that I may sail your sea I am now an open book Turn my pages with a look Write these words that I may see I'm wrapped up in your story Hoping you can hear my song Sing it darling won't be long Be my sweetest melody Empty out your lungs for me
8.
If I could you know I would Break my heart in two for you So you could hold me in your arms And love me like you do I told you time and time again Our Love it's like the fleeting wind The tides that rise and fall you know Here for a day then gone Not sure what it is I'm trying to do But I'm sure I'd like to do it with you And sleep all day in a bed that's made For me and just for you I am waiting for you now To call my name out loud Because we've got These few short days To figure out our Love somehow
9.
Two 01:18
Hey you've come To rest your bones With me For me alone I can't sleep without your warmth Come near Be still Long you run But I can hear You breathing still My Love
10.
Call Me 03:03
Call me on the telephone today I'll be listening to the words you say Again Call me when you're tired or you're mad I will listening to the words you have Again Take back those things I said to you Pull back the veil I know it's you I'm not alright I know that it's hard to love me now Maybe we just take a walk somehow If you saw me as I always was Maybe you could love me just because I am Because I can't All those days we spent alone You and I we got along Didn't I bring you joy I was just a little boy I'm not alright I say goodnight

about

Kurt Loewen is a songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist currently residing in Victoria, BC. He has spent much of his career in music writing, performing and traveling with The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra. His debut solo record, Heavy & Low, is a collection of songs about relationships, love, change, and moving on. Though largely a rock record packed with guitars, omnichord, banjo and string arrangements the album honours Loewen’s roots beginnings. The live experience is both a succinct and distinct representation of the record brought to life with a 5 piece band. A sonically disparate recording compared to previous projects, Heavy & Low is a candid and frank offering speaking to the challenges and beauty in the connections we hold close.
